"Street Creds" by Zach Fortier

****
Street Creds is a look inside the world of street gangs and the cops that work them. I worked the street for many years before I entered the Gang Task Force, joining it with the idea that I could rise to the level of violence of any banger I encountered - a really stupid idea. I wanted to “earn back” the respect of the citizens for the police; I grew up in this city, and I worked its streets the best way I knew how, feeling that I had a firsthand understanding of what the citizens were experiencing. The increasing frustration at gang crimes, drive bys, robberies, never feeling safe with your kids in your own neighborhood - I wanted to do what I could to make that fear go away.
Once I was inside the task force, though, the reality was a rude awakening for me. The task force was poorly managed and staffed by detectives mostly out for themselves, and the internal politics made success incredibly difficult and almost impossible - almost, but not quite.

Incredible. I think what the author went through was amazing. I always worry about my children first and foremost. But even now, we live in a great neighbour hood BTW, and I still dont feel safe enough. My kids are watched like hawks and I worry about my 16 year old step son. I dont see gang activity in his future, but I do worry about depression and bullying, which has been a problem in the past. We try and get it taken care of through the school systems but the bullies keep it up with him. Thank you Zach, for an intro into the life of a gang police officer. Best of luck and I would absolutely love to read anything else you write!!!! THANK YOU!!!!

"The Awakening and The Struggle" by L. J. Smith (books one and two of the vampire diaries)

*****
Elena: the golden girl, the leader, the one who can have any boy she wants.

Stefan: brooding and mysterious, he seems to be the only one who can resist Elena, even as he struggles to protect her from the horrors that haunt his past.

Damon: sexy, dangerous, and driven by an urge for revenge against Stefan, the brother who betrayed him. Determined to have Elena, he'd kill to possess her.

Collected here in one volume for the first time, volumes one and two of The Vampire Diaries, the tale of two vampire brothers and the beautiful girl torn between them.

Yep. Awesome and soooo much better than the show....just sayin.... I had read this book before the other one and i just forgot to post a review. I obviously loved it enough to grab the second book...right???? I think I love the character Damon...in the book...the actor in the show is too cocky and arrogent for me. Love Elena too. Very simple to read, lots of drama, action, a lil humor...great read!!

"Killer Instinct" by Zoรซ Sharp (Charlie Fox Book One)

KILLER INSTINCT is the first in Zoรซ Sharp’s highly acclaimed Charlotte ‘Charlie’ Fox crime thriller series, now available in e-format for the first time, complete with Foreword by Lee Child, two previously deleted scenes, Meet Charlie Fox and Meet Zoรซ Sharp extras, an excerpt from the next Charlie Fox novel – RIOT ACT – and a bonus excerpt from Brett Battles’ Jonathan Quinn novella, BECOMING QUINN.

‘Susie Hollins may have been no great shakes as a karaoke singer, but I didn’t think that was enough reason for anyone to want to kill her.’

Charlie Fox makes a living teaching self-defence to women in a quiet northern English city. It makes best use of the deadly skills she picked up after being kicked out of army Special Forces training for reasons she prefers not to go into. So, when Susie Hollins is found dead hours after she foolishly takes on Charlie at the New Adelphi Club, Charlie knows it’s only a matter of time before the police come calling. What they don’t tell her is that Hollins is the latest victim of a homicidal rapist stalking the local area.

Charlie finds herself drawn closer to the crime when the New Adelphi’s enigmatic owner, Marc Quinn, offers her a job working security at the club. Viewed as an outsider by the existing all-male team, her suspicion that there’s a link between the club and a serial killer doesn’t exactly endear her to anyone. Charlie has always taught her students that it’s better to run than to stand and fight, But, when the killer starts taking a very personal interest, it’s clear he isn’t going to give her that option .

Holy Crow!!!! Loads of action. I really, really, really enjoyed this book!!!!!!!!!!! MUST READ PEOPLE!!!!!!!! Loved this book. Charlie is awesome and I can see myself in her!! Attn Zoe: I must have the next one!!! You are awesome and and and yeah!!!! LOL. I will spread the word about this book and let people borrow!!! I will re-read!!!!!

"Darkness Shall Fall" by Alister E. McGrath

***
It's been two months since the volcano erupted, releasing a strange, evil power from deep within the earth, and Peter, Julia, and Louisa find themselves trapped alongside the people of Aedyn. Worse, neither Peter nor Julia knows how to lead the people home, and Louisa's plan for freedom results only in anxiety. As the power surrounding the Shadow grows, a stranger arrives claiming to be a messenger of the Lord of Hosts. Peras promises to get everyone to safety, but his presence leaves the siblings wondering whom to really trust. In this dramatic conclusion to the Aedyn Chronicles trilogy, Peter, Julia, and Louisa must decide whether to fight for what they know to be true, even when the fight seems hopeless. Can Peter and Julia lead the revolution, and will Louisa find the courage to face her own destiny?

I thought this book was well written and I really enjoyed it. I didnt like volcanos before and I really dont like them now!!!!I would like to read more from this author. Not extremely easy to follow, since I do read alot of young adult, but I kept up and really enjoyed it...A different story line and I am definately going to let my Mother in Law borrow!!!!

It will take all his power and that if his brothers to take the first step in defeating the demon who sought his death so long ago and now will seek it again if he cannot face and overcome this first challenge.

I rated it three stars. I loved the story line, I loved the characters, I do want to read the other books, But the reason I rated it only three is because it is confusing on which character is doing what. It skips around too much between characters that I often got confused. I did love the book, I loved the setting and all characters...well minus the bad guys and girls.....I enjoyed it once I caught on about who the author was talking about!!! Awesome Job!!!

"Destined" by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast (House of Night Book 9)

"Awakened" by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast (House of Night book 8)

*****
“My love, speak to me.  Tell me everything.”  Neferet went to Kalona, kneeling before him, stroking the soft, dark wings that unfurled loosely around the immortal.
“What would you have me say?”  He didn’t meet her eyes.
“Zoey lives.” Neferet’s voice was flat, cold, lifeless.
“She does.”
“Then you owe me the subservience of your immortal soul.”  She started to walk away from him.
“Where are you going?  What will happen next?”
“It is quite simple.  I will ensure Zoey is drawn back to Oklahoma.  There, on my own terms, I will complete the task you failed.”
Exonerated by the Vampyre High Council and returned to her position of High Priestess at Tulsa’s House of Night, Neferet has sworn vengeance on Zoey.  Dominion over Kalona is only one of the weapons she plans to use against Z.  But Zoey has found sanctuary on the Isle of Skye and is being groomed by Queen Sgiach to take over for her there.  Being Queen would be cool, wouldn’t it?  Why should she return to Tulsa? After losing her human consort, Heath, she will never be the same – and her relationship with her super-hot-warrior, Stark, may never be the same either…
And what about Stevie Rae and Rephaim?  The Raven Mocker refuses to be used against Stevie Rae, but what choice does he have when no one in the entire world, including Zoey, would be okay with their relationship?  Does he betray his father or his heart?
In the pulse-pounding 8th book in the bestselling House of Night series, how far will the bonds of friendship stretch and how strong are the ties that bind one girl’s heart?

OMG! I cant say enough about these books!!!! I want either a mini series or movies!!! I feel so horrible for cure Rephaim. Confused is just too simple of a word for the poor kid. Poor Heath....Lord there is too much action and whats going ons to be bored with this book!!!! Thanks guys for an amazing story that keeps growing!!!!!!

"Hunted" by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast (House of Night book Five)

*****
What if the hottest guy in the world was hiding a nameless evil, and all he wanted was you?
At the start of this heart-pounding new installment of the bestselling House of Night series, Zoey’s friends have her back again and Stevie Rae and the red fledglings aren’t Neferet’s secrets any longer.  But an unexpected danger has emerged. Neferet guards her powerful new consort, Kalona, and no one at the House of Night seems to understand the threat he poses.  Kalona looks gorgeous, and he has the House of Night under his spell. A past life holds the key to breaking his rapidly spreading influence, but what if this past life shows Zoey secrets she doesn’t want to hear and truths she can’t face?
On the run and holed up in Tulsa’s Prohibition-era tunnels, Zoey and her gang must discover a way to deal with something that might bring them all down.  Meanwhile, Zoey has a few other little problems.  The red fledglings have cleaned up well – they’ve even managed to make the dark, creepy tunnels feel more like home – but are they really as friendly as they seem?  On the boyfriend front, Zoey has a chance to make things right with super-hot ex-, Erik, but she can’t stop thinking about Stark, the archer who died in her arms after one unforgettable night, and she is driven to try to save him from Neferet’s sinister influence at all costs.  Will anyone believe the power evil has to hide among us?
Okay Okay. Can I just say COMPLETELY AWESOME!!! P.C. Cast and Kristin did an amazing job yet again. Im not going to appologize for loving this series. The characters are unbelievable and Neferet makes me more and more angry the longer I read. I want to pull out her pretty red hair!!!! LOL. Again awesome job and I am stoked about the next one!!!!!!

"Tempted" by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast (House of Night book six)

****
Zoey needs a break after some serious excitement. Sadly, the House of Night school for vampyres doesn’t feature breaks on its curriculum—even for a High Priestess in training and her gang. Plus juggling three guys is no stress reliever, especially when one is a sexy Warrior so into protecting Zoey that he’s sensing her emotions. Wider stresses lurk too, and the dark force in Tulsa’s tunnels is spreading. Could Stevie Rae be responsible for more than a group of misfit fledglings? And Aphrodite’s visions warn Zoey to stay away from the immortal Kalona and his dark allure—but they also show that only Zoey can stop him. She’s not exactly keen to meet up, but if Zoey doesn’t go to Kalona he’ll exact a fiery vengeance on those closest to her. She just has to find the courage to do what’s necessary, or everything that’s important to her will be destroyed.
Okay so alot of people are giving the house of night books a three or smaller. I dont understand. I love these books and I personally think that they are great. I would love to see these move to movies or maybe an awesome mini series on tv. I was so wanting to cry through out this book. Kalona? Really dude. Anywho, Great awesome book and I am moving on to the next one!!!!!!

"Life of Death, a lifetime of depression leads to happiness" by George Mason

***
Life of Death is a story of hope. The book is a self report of the author' lifelong struggle with depression and anxiety and later alcoholism. It describes his journey as an outwardly normal person where non-normal encounters occurred. The author was depressed as a young child and ended up in a mental health institution for over a year. Now the author is a successful married father. Events take place in Fort Myers, FL and Fairfax, VA

Very short book. I read it in less than 20 minutes. George's book takes me through a very depressing short journey through his life. Its a very sad book. I am thrilled that he found God and is finally happy. This book may very help alot of people. I wish him the best of luck!!! Thank you for the oppertunity to read it!!!
Thank you to Goodreads Giveaways for the book!!!

"Bryan's Brain: Volume One" by Bryan Healey

****
Come with me and explore my crazy brain, discovering my wild attempts at going back in time, cloning dinosaurs, starting private militaries, purchasing mountains, flying to Mars, making movies, selling videogames, and playing professional baseball. You'll laugh, you'll cry, but mostly you won't care about any of it. But read it anyway, because you'll hurt my feelings if you don't!!!
LMAO!!!! Bryan Healey is so funny!!!! This book was extremely entertaining to read. I am going to pass it on to family and friends to read!!! So many things in his book reminds me of my childhood...sorta...or more like my guy friends. Loved Loved Loved it!!!! Great job Bryan. I am now wanting to read more of your work!!!

"Midnight Sun" by Stephenie Meyer

*****
I have to give it a five caus it was just awesome. Retelling in from Edward's point of view explains why the stud-vampire was always so angry!!!! A different approach to the huge love story that (almost) everyone loves. Stephenie is a fantastic writer and she transfers her stories down to pen and paper wonderfully. Very easy to read and keep up with. Her descriptions are fantastic. I, personally, would like to have more from Edward's point of view. Makes it more interesting. Loved it!!!!!!!

"Rebellion" by Nora Roberts (A MacGregor Novel)

****
Heavenly Hellion
One look at the ravishing red-haired beauty and Brigham Langston was captivated. But though Serena macGregor had the face of an angel, she was a wildcat who spurned his advances with a  rapier-sharp tongue. To hot-tempered Serena, Brigham was just another Englishman to be despised. But in the arms of the dashing and dangerous English Lord, the proud Scottish beauty's hatred soon melted with the heat of their passion.
I am just going to say this now...I HEART Nora Roberts. Her books arent too gooey and annoyingly descriptive as far as the nookie goes. I am just now getting around to reading the Scottish MacGregor books and I know, I know I should have read them a long time ago...I'm only half Scottish and half Irish ya know....Love Serena's character. Fiesty and courageous, with an attitude. ((Drools)) sexy Brigham...Such a great story...I am ready for another MacGregor book....

"SNAP: Seizing Your AHA! Moments" by Katherine Ramsland

***
Sudden flashes of inspiration have triggered many discoveries and inventions throughout history. Are such aha! moments merely random, or is there a way to train the brain to harness these seemingly unpredictable creative insights? In this fascinating overview of the latest neuroscience findings on spontaneous thought processes, or "snaps", Dr. Katherine Ramsland describes how everyone--not just geniuses-- can learn to improve the likelihood of their own "eureka" moments by adopting certain rewarding attitudes and  habits.
As Dr. Ramsland explains, snaps are much more than new ideas. Snaps are insights plus momentum--they instantly compel or snap us toward action. They often occur after ordinary problem solving hits an impasse. We may feel stuck, but while we're in a quandary, the brain is rebooting. Then, when we least expect it, the solution pops into our heads.
Ramsland describes the results of numerous scientific experiments studying this phenomenon. She also recounts intriguing stories of people in diverse disciplines who have had a snap experience. Both the research and the stories illustrate that it's possible to enhance our facility for snap moments by training ourselves to scan, sift, and solve.
Scanning involves learning such habits as watching for opportunitiesand ideas, setting goals, coordination short and long-term memory, and letting the mind wander creatively. Sifting has to do with our mental maps, developing mental flexibility, balancing practive and play, and shaping information into new patterns. Finally solutions occur when trust inour inner resources outweighs perceived risk, and we know when to stop thinking and to just relax.
Throughout this insightful book, Ramsland offers puzzles and exercises to demonstrate how the aha! experience can be achieved. Readers can use the suggestions for cultivating snaps in their own lives.
In the emerging economy, businesses and individuals need new strategies, and it's clear that just thinking harder no longer works. People who can snap are often a step ahead: they have a vigilance advantage from exercising brain cells that build mental agility. While snapping is rewarding, fun, and good for improving our mental skills, it's also much more: people who snap life-changing ideas that affect many others will redirect our future.
Written in an accessible, jargonfree narrative that weaves together the latest research with illuminating stories of innovative people, SNAP teaches us how to cultivate our own inner epiphanies to gain an edge in our imaginations, our careers, our goals-indeed, in every aspect of our lives.

I did enjoy the information in this book. I am not really big on this type, but I finished it. Was a bit boring but had a ton of information. I will take the information from this book and use it well. Good Job Katherine. I hope many other people gain better knowledge and gain more "snaps" in their lives from your book, I sure hope I do!
Thank you to Goodreads Giveaways for the book!!!

If you are awaiting a review, as a warning, I have suddenly recieved a stack of books, it gets bigger every day.  Be patient and I will get to them. Keep up to date on exactly what I'm reading on goodreads. NOTE: if I cannot get past the first chapter of a book, its not going to get a good review. I won't be too mean, but come on.....okay, hot bubbling bath awaits me and so does a large vanilla coffee....Until later peeps..........
